St. Benedict's Welcomes Deacon, Edith Woodling

On Sunday, July 10th, we welcomed Edith Woodling as our new deacon. Here is her letter to the parish.

Dear Friends at St. Benedict’s,

I am excited to be a part of St. Benedict’s parish as your Deacon. I have known Brian Sullivan for a long time and look forward to working with him once again and getting to know each of you.

I was ordained in this diocese over 20 years ago and have served St. Anne’s, Christ Church, Norcross, and St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal churches before being assigned here.

For the past three years, I have worked with Lesley-Ann Drake as the Educational Consultant for Path To Shine. I have come to know a lot about this ministry and the love and commitment you have to this amazing program for under-served children. I will continue to work with Path To Shine as we go forward together.

Before coming to St. Benedict's (and after a long sabbatical), I served for over 10 years as Chaplain at St. Martin’s Episcopal School and as the Deacon at St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church. I have been an educator for 45 years, teaching students from Pre-K (St. Martin’s) to University level (Kent State, Georgia State, Emory)! I taught many years at Pace Academy before being ordained.

I look forward to serving on the Outreach committee and seeing where your passion for ministry and outreach lie, helping where it is appropriate. I also look forward to worshiping with you on Sunday mornings, sharing the Gospel and communion with this wonderful community.

Please introduce yourself to me during this transitional time. It will be wonderful to meet the good people of St. Benedict's and share in God’s work for all of God’s people!

Faithfully,

Edith W. Woodling

Deacon
