Guest Speaker This Sunday: Imam Arshad Anwar and Khadeejah Farooq from the Roswell Community Masjid
In response to the recent terrorist attacks in Orlando, St. Benedict's Episcopal Church is inviting the community to come together on Sunday, June 26 at 9:00 AM. The Rev. Brian Sullivan has invited Imam Arshad Anwar from the Roswell Community Masjid and Khadeejah Farooq to share "American Muslims: Beliefs and Practices." Mrs. Farooq is a representative of ISB (Islamic Speaker's Bureau). The program will begin at 9:00AM downstairs in the Parish Hall. The presentation will last approximately 45 minutes with equal time for question and answers to follow. The program will end by 10:15AM. All are invited for the Eucharist beginning at 10:30AM.
The Rev. Brian Sullivan has worked closely with Palestine/Israeli Christian, Muslim and Jewish children during his thirteen years with Kids4Peace (www.k4p.org). This important peacemaking work has taught him that during times of fear and violence, dialogue is imperative. Therefore he is inviting the community to learn about the clear distinctions between violent groups who associate themselves with religion, and our peaceful neighbors and influential friends who practice Islam.
St. Benedict's is located at 2160 Cooper Lake Road, Smyrna, GA 30080 near the intersection of Atlanta Road and Cumberland Boulevard. Please arrive early for coffee and a bagel, and feel free to stay for the 10:30 Eucharist. Our congregation dresses casually, so come as you are.
