YOUTH & CHILDREN'S CHOIRS

THE YOUTH & CHILDREN'S CHOIR MINISTRY plays an important role in worship at St. Benedict’s Episcopal Church. We offer choirs for children in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade, with rehearsals on Wednesdays throughout the school season. Youth and children may join at any time.

The purpose of the children’s and youth choirs are:

  • To encounter the wonder and love of God, and praise him through music and singing

  • To develop friendships and community among their peers at St. Benedict’s

  • To lead and support the congregation's worship through music on selected dates throughout the year

  • To prepare the choristers for a lifetime of singing and music enjoyment

St. Cecilia Children’s Choir

Kindergarten - 3rd grade (singing and percussion)

Wednesdays from 4:45-5:15 pm

Directed by Mr. Trevor Kytola and Ms. Valerie Pool

Group music-making and movement engage children in multisensory learning experiences that build confidence, self-awareness, creativity, and social-emotional development, and that promote student growth across academic fields.

During St. Cecilia Choir rehearsals, the children will learn songs that are liturgy based, that teach musical concepts, and that are fun. We will sing (using motions and movement), play percussion instruments and musical games, and learn the basics of music in rhythm, harmony, and early note-reading. St. Cecilia Choir will sing in church on scheduled days throughout the school year.
